Dear
Friend,
I love and hate this
time of year.
I love it because
it gets cooler. People are in a better mood. Just about everybody is
celebrating something. And people are shopping like crazy.
I hate it because
not too many people are shopping for houses. Not that many people think
about buying a house or refinancing the last 3 weeks of December.
But that's OK. We've
got other things to do too.
Like reviewing how
we did this year, and organizing for next.
So, whenever you get
a chance in the next week or so, take a look at all your production
numbers.
- Did you hit your yearly goals? Why or why not?
- Which month was the best? Why?
- What were your best methods to bring in new customers?
- Were your expenses higher or lower than they should've
been?
Taking a look at your
records and asking yourself these and other questions are great ways
to go through the whole year and analyze what you did right, and what
did not go according to plan. Try to identify areas where you can improve.
Then, it's time to
start thinking about next year.
- The best way to make sure marketing gets done,
is to have it set up in advance. Plan out your marketing for the
whole year now. Decide what you are going to do and when.
- Set up your goals for this coming year.
- # of loans?
- average net per loan?
- % of prospects converted to application?
- % of application that close?
- hours per week worked?
These are just a few of the main ones.
3. Then ask yourself what you will do differently
to achieve your goals. You cannot expect business to get better if you
do not do anything about it. Sorry, but waiting for the economy to get
better is not going to work. Rates are going up. And they will keep
going up. The economy is doing OK. If you want things to change, you
must do the changing.
So what will you do differently?

- Will you invest in more education?
- Will you try 1, 2, 3, new marketing techniques?
- Will you do all of the above?
I wish you the best of luck in whatever
you choose to do, but make sure you do something. If you stop moving
forward - you are moving backwards. It's not my rule, it's nature's
law.
